GTBank Liberia General Manager, Ajodeji Bejide has been relieved of his post for allegedly assaulting a senior staff.
According to a statement issued by GTBank Liberia, the General Manager has been relieved of his post pending investigation into Tuesday’s alleged assault against Edward Freeman.
A video trending on Facebook shows Mr. Freeman bleeding from his lips after Bejide reportedly threw a calculator at him; wounding him in the process.
Freeman is said to have asked the GTBank Management to settle the growing wave of complains emanating from customers over poor banking services, during a staff meeting.
Mr. Bejide, a Nigerian national who was arrested on the charge of physical assault by officers of the Liberia National Police on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, has admitted to committing the offense.
Reaction to the incident, the Guaranty Trust Bank or GTBank Liberia said as law abiding organization with zero tolerance for assault of any kind, it will not only taking the matter very serious, but will treat it with every urgency.
“We learnt with shock and sadness the assault of one of our staff in the workplace and immediately launched an investigation into the matter.
“The staff accused of this assault has been relieved of his duties pending the outcome of our investigation in line with our corporate governance standards,” a press release issued in Monrovia by the Bank said.

“Once again, we wish to strongly affirm that at GTBank Liberia, we do not condone any form of assault in the workplace nor do we compromise on our principle that every GTBank Liberia staff should be able to come to work without fear of violence, abuse or harassment.
“We will not hesitate to take action against any staff that is found to be in breach of our strict code of conduct against assault and harassment, regardless of their position in the organization.”
GTBank Liberia also reiterated its commitment to providing all the necessary care and assistance to any staff who may have suffered assault or harassment of any kind.
