Cuffy-Brown dismisses claims of appointing relatives of Pres. Weah

NPA’s acting managing director, Cecelia Cuffy-Brown, has dismissed claims that she has appointed several relatives of President Weah at the Free Port of Monrovia.

Prince Weah, said to be brother to the President, was allegedly hired by Acting Managing Director as a Public Relations Strategist, with a salary of US$4,500; a wage four times more than NPA current Public Relations Officer Malcolm Scott’s US$1,067 monthly salary.

The other two posts occupied by President Weah’s family members at NPA include an Evaluation Officer and Local Liaison Officer, which according to reports were non-existent until now.

Madam Brown said all those appointed to key positions at the Gateway to Liberia Economy successfully went through the vetting process for recruitment or employment.

Speaking through its Public Relations Office ahead of Monday’s press conference, the management of NPA said hiring employable Liberians including the Weah’s without the knowledge or influence by H. E was done in keeping in view of additional revenue that was sourced by aggressive collectable measures instituted by the new management team at the Free Port of Monrovia.
