CBL officials have termed as erroneous a story published in the New Dawn Newspaper suggesting that the Bank in last December gave each of its governors 300 thousand United States Dollars as car loans.
CBL or Central Bank of Liberia in a press statement issued here Monday evening did not say when the Newspaper published the story itself was under caption; US$300,000 for Each Governor at CBL.
The statement said the story is a calculated attempt by the New Dawn Newspaper and its associates to tarnish the reputation of the Bank and its Governors.
The press statement said CBL has in place a car loan scheme or policy under which senior staffs buy their own cars for repayment over a maximum of five-year period.
CBL in the statement challenged the New Dawn Newspaper to produce evidence to support what the Bank calls its wild and fictitious claim.
