Liberian champions, LISCR FC, Sunday defeated Sudanese outfit Al-Hilal 1-0 in the first leg of the preliminary rounds of the Confederation of African Football’s championships League.
The only goal of the game was scored by the hosts’ forward Sekou Sheriff after 21 minutes.
The game played at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in central Monrovia, was graced by President George Weah, a former World Best Player, who ordered that entrance to the stadium be free of charge.
The second leg of the game will be played on the weekend of February 16-18 in Khartoum, Sudan.
LISCR FC, which has not played any international match since 2013, can only proceed to the second round of the qualifier if they beat Al-Hilal or avoid defeat in Khartoum.
