School authorities in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County have demoted for poor academic performance several senior high school students
Tubman Wilson Institute, the long serving high school in Zwedru has demoted 11 students from the senior class (Grade-12) to Grade – 11. Several others are said to be on probation.
Nixon Garlo High School has refunded the WASSE fees of 20 12th Graders for poor academic performance and demoted them to Grade-11 to avoid over crowdedness of the Exam Hall. Students were also demoted from the 10th and 11th grades.
Reports say other high schools in Zwedru and its environ are planning to carryout similar exercise.
FARBRIC Radio Grand Gedeh correspondence Lloyd Farley, said parents of the affected students have expressed annoyance over the schools administration’s decision.
This is the first in more than 15 years for students to be demoted in their mass under the Zwedru School System.
