Party officials have suspended for time indefinite, Dr. J. Mills Jones, Political Leader of the opposition Movement for Economic Empowerment or MOVEE.
Officials say the decision was taken at an Executive Committee (EC) meeting on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, following a scuffle between him (Dr. Jones) and a local party official during the weekend over a 7.5kva generator.
Reports say MOVEE’s Assistant National Secretary, Mr. Jones James Roberts was allegedly injured by Dr. Jone’s personal security guards in a tussle over the removal of the 7.5kva general from the party Headquarters.
MOVEE officials said Dr. Jones was suspended indefinitely for stirring confusion and undermining other officials of the party.
According to Executive Committee Members, Dr. Jones has demonstrated arrogance and complete lack of tolerance and respect for officials and members of the party.
The officials said following the October 10 polls, Dr. Jones has also distanced himself from MOVEE and refused to play leadership role.
They blamed him (Dr. Jones) for the party under performance at the polls.
In the October 10 presidential election, Dr. Jones and his MOVEE party obtained little over 12,000 votes amounting to 0.8 percent.
Following the first round of voting, MOVEE’s national Chairman, Dee-Maxwell Kemayah and other officials and members declared support for CDC of Senator George Manneh Weah, who obtained more than 38% of the total vote cast.
Tension has reportedly brewed in the party amongst members since the decision was made the support the CDC.
