District # 9 residents threaten to boycott 2017 election

Residents of an area known as People United Community have threatened to boycott the October 10 presidential and legislative elections.
The vastly populated slum community is situated behind the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Electoral District # 9, Montserrado County.
Devastating sea erosion washed away several homes in United People Community and left over 500 people homeless. No casualty was reported.
Victims of the erosion, including women and children, said they have been seeking shelter school buildings and churches.
Others affected by the devastating erosion said they are sleeping with friends, without any form of help from Government or politician seeking to represent them at the National Legislature.
Some of the dwellers in separate interviews said, they will not vote in the ensuring elections because the Government and politicians do not care about them.
Munah Pennoh-Young Blood, the incumbent Representative of District # 9, is seeking reelection.
The ex-model turned politician was elected on the ticket of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change, one of the three parties making up the Coalition for Democratic Change, during 2011 general elections.
