NEC Clears Mills Jones to contest October presidential polls


The National Elections Commission has given the go ahead for Presidential Hopeful Dr. Mills Jones to participate in the upcoming elections.

There were popular believes that the MOVEE Political leader might not appear on the ballot paper for apparently been in violation of the controversial code of conduct.

5.1 of the Code of Conduct requires all presidential appointees desirous of seeking elective public office to resign two years before elections year.

As Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia, Dr. Jones didn’t resign his post as required by the CoC, he served until his tenure ended in March 2016.

But speaking when he was endorsed by the seventeen communities of district#12 Montserrado County, Dr. Jones disclosed that the electoral body has finally given him the permission to contest in October.

He called on individuals who he said maybe frustrated over decision of the National Elections Commission for him to contest in October to ‘burst their eyes’.

According to Dr. Jones, his administration will be a government that looks like the people, adding that the issue of discrimination will not also be in the book of a MOVEE led administration.

Friends of Kamara is a political  movement promoting the election bid of district#12 aspirant Billklintosh Kamara who is also a candidate on the ticket of the Movement for Economic Empowerment.
