International children peace prize winner Abraham Keita charged with contempt of court

The City Court at the Temple of Justice has held in contempt Child rights advocate, Abraham Keita.

Farbric news court reporter said Mr. Keita is held in contempt for his refusal on several occasions to honor the Court’s invitation summoning him to a conference.

Keita, an International Children Peace Prize winner, was sued by Grand Gedeh County Representative, Marias Waylee, following a recent protest during which the child rights advocate demanded the lawmaker be investigated on allegation of raping a 13-year old girl.

Keita and lawyers who appeared in court Monday pleaded not guilty, but begged to re-appear before court on Tuesday.

The Case has been rescheduled for Tuesday.

Early this month, Frontpage Africa published that Grand Gedeh County District 2 Representative; Marias Waylee allegedly raped and impregnated a 13 year old girl.

The 13 year old girl (name withheld), the local daily wrote, is a niece to the Lawmaker and was staying with him (Hon. Waylee) when the act was committed.

Amidst mountain pressure from nearly all spheres of the Liberian society, Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry has launched an investigation into the alleged rape case but fears that family members have failed to provide detailed information on the whereabouts of the girl.
