The National Teachers Association of Liberia, NTAL, has issued a statement, asking all its members across Liberia to lay down chalks until Education Minister, George Werner resigns.
NTAL early this month called on the Minister to resign on allegation of violating the education laws of Liberia.
The Teachers’ Association had expressed outrage over the Education Ministry’s decision to outsource public schools to Bridge International Academy, a private and profit making company.
In the statement issued Wednesday, the NTAL is also asking Monrovia Consolidated School System Superintendent, Benjamin Jacobs, to resign.
The NTAL says it has got the backing of the MCSS Teachers Association, the Health Workers’ Association and Concerned Universities Students of the Ministry of Education Local Scholarship Program.
Meanwhile, Public School Teachers in Lofa County have laid down their chalks to compel Education Minister George Werner to resign.
